Disability & Accessibility Policy
Shaft Of Wit Ltd — Trading as Shaft Of Wit Comedy
At Shaft Of Wit Comedy, we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy our live comedy events. We are committed to making our shows accessible and welcoming to people with disabilities. We aim to treat everyone fairly, remove barriers to access wherever reasonably practicable, and consider and make reasonable adjustments in accordance with our legal obligations.
1. Our Commitment
We aim to:

  • Treat disabled customers, performers and staff with dignity and respect.

  • Provide clear and accurate accessibility information.

  • Consider reasonable adjustments to help disabled customers access our events and services.

  • Work with venues to identify and address accessibility barriers.

  • Consider individual requirements fairly, without making assumptions based on a person's disability.

  • Make information about access arrangements available before an event wherever possible.

We recognise that disabilities and access needs vary between individuals and that not all disabilities are visible.

2. Access to Events and Reasonable Adjustments
We work with event venues to provide information about accessibility, including step-free access, seating, facilities and emergency procedures.
If you require an adjustment to attend or enjoy an event, please contact us before your visit wherever possible. We will consider your request and, where appropriate, work with the venue to identify reasonable and practicable arrangements.
Accessibility facilities vary between venues, and we cannot guarantee that every requested facility or adjustment will be available. Requests will be considered individually, taking account of the person's needs, the circumstances and applicable legal obligations.
We will not refuse a request solely because a person is disabled or because their disability or access needs are not immediately apparent. Where a particular arrangement raises a genuine safety concern, we will consider the circumstances and whether alternative reasonable arrangements may be possible.

3. Essential Companion Tickets
We offer Essential Companion Tickets to eligible customers who require a companion because of disability-related support needs.
Our standard scheme provides one discounted companion ticket per eligible booking, priced at 50% of the standard ticket face value, plus any applicable booking fees. The scheme applies exclusively to tickets purchased through the LiveComedy.net online box office.
To qualify under the standard scheme, customers must hold a valid Nimbus Disability / CredAbility Access Card displaying the relevant +1 or +2 symbol and obtain a companion-ticket discount code from Shaft Of Wit Comedy.
If you cannot obtain or provide an eligible Access Card and believe you require an alternative arrangement because of your disability, please contact us. We will consider your circumstances and any applicable legal obligations on an individual basis.
Where tickets are sold directly by a venue or through another ticketing provider, the seller's companion-ticket procedures, eligibility requirements and charges may differ. Please contact the venue's box office directly in these circumstances.
For full details, please refer to our separate Essential Companion Tickets & Accessibility Policy on LiveComedy.net.

4. Hidden Disabilities and Additional Support
We recognise that not all disabilities or access needs are visible.
If you have a hidden disability, medical condition or other support need that our staff or the venue team should be aware of, or if sharing information would help us prepare for your visit, you are welcome to contact us before the event.
Sharing this information is voluntary. You only need to provide details relevant to the support you are requesting. We will consider the information you share sensitively and use it appropriately to discuss possible arrangements.
Advance notification can help us prepare, but it cannot guarantee that every requested facility or adjustment will be available.

5. Emergency Evacuation and Safety
We work with venues to understand their emergency procedures and consider the needs of disabled guests.
If you or your companion may require assistance during an emergency evacuation, please tell us or the venue before the event wherever possible. We can help facilitate a discussion with the venue about appropriate arrangements, including an individual Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) where suitable.
Arrangements depend on the venue, its facilities and the individual's requirements. We will not assume that a disabled guest can evacuate without assistance, nor can we guarantee a particular evacuation arrangement before it has been discussed with the responsible venue.
The venue's applicable fire-safety responsibilities remain in place. Where an access or safety concern arises, we will seek to discuss the circumstances and possible alternatives with the venue and the customer.

6. Privacy and Supporting Information
Information about disability or health can be sensitive personal data. We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary to consider an access request or administer the companion-ticket scheme.
Access to supporting information will be restricted to those who need it for the relevant purpose. Where information needs to be shared with a venue to arrange support, we will limit it to what is necessary and handle it in accordance with our applicable data-protection obligations.
Please do not send detailed medical records or unrelated health information when more limited information will suffice.
Further details about personal information are provided in our Privacy & Data Protection Policy on LiveComedy.net.

7. Questions, Requests and Feedback
If you have questions about accessibility, companion-ticket eligibility, supporting evidence or adjustments for an upcoming event, please contact Shaft Of Wit Comedy through our LiveComedy.net contact page.
We encourage customers to contact us in advance wherever possible so that we have time to discuss their requirements with the venue.
We welcome feedback and suggestions to help make our events more accessible.

8. Policy Review
We may review and update this policy as our events, venue arrangements or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on LiveComedy.net.
This policy explains our approach to accessibility but does not exclude or restrict any rights or legal remedies available under applicable law.
