- 01BIG COMEDY CLUB NIGHTS bring top-tier comedians with TV, radio, touring, and writing credits to larger venues (150–250 capacity). Tickets range from £22.50–£25 plus booking fees. LIVE COMEDY CLUB NIGHTS take place in intimate venues (50–100 capacity), featuring headline acts from the UK club circuit—many with awards and media credits. Support acts vary from emerging talent to breakthrough performers, often joined by a second headline-quality comedian. LEGENDS OF LAUGHTER showcases one or more seasoned comedians with remarkable careers. Whether currently popular or once household names, these legends bring their loyal fanbase and impressive credentials to a truly special mixed bill. THE DIRTY DOZEN LIVE COMEDY SHOOTOUT. This is a live comedy competition for acts of all levels. Twelve comedians have five minutes of stage time to impress and the audience votes on their favourites throughout the show. The Dirty Dozen is the longest running live comedy competition in East Anglia and often features comedians rising through the ranks, that later appear on TV at major festivals and on the touring circuit.
- 02The running time of shows varies but Two Hours To Two and A Half Hours is common. Most shows usually consist of three sections, separated by two intervals OPENING Section- MC & Opening act. 30 to 40 minutes. Interval - 15-20 minutes MIDDLE Section - MC & Mddle Act(s) 30 to 40 minutes. Interval CLOSING Section- MC & Headline Acts 35-45 minutes minutes. These timings are estimated. Some shows may over run If you are organising a taxi, it is recommended that you allow for 15-20 minutes over run to avoid having to leave before the show ends. You will not be expected to wait outside if it ends on time
- 03Yes! All venues have a bar service. Some are full bars and others are mobile or a simple bottle and can service. TOP TIP Due to the volume of people - Guests are strongly advised, if they plan to have a second drink, to purchase interval drinks when they get he first round in. . These drinks wiil be waiting and will help you avoid the queues. By sharing this tip frequently with guests , it makes it impossible to complain about queues, if they are slow moving!😁 Please do not bring your own drinks, the events are put on in support of the venues and offer them an opportunity to raise much needed funds for repairs and heating etc. Many venues have volunteer run bars that are very fairly priced
- 04The event is for adults with most shows containing explicit language and subject matter suitable for adults only. That said, no one under the age of SIXTEEN is permitted and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Groups of young people under 18 are not permitted even with an adult, If anyone appears under 18 they may be asked for ID and alcohol is strictly off limits. If anyone under 18 appears to be intoxicated, they will be removed from the performance and asked to leave with their responsible adult chaperone. No refunds will be issued in such circumstances.
- 05Most venues don't serve food, but may have bar snacks. A couple of venues have food vendors serving outside which is good for before the show and during the intervals. If dining pre-show, please allow time so you don't miss the start of the show. If comedy is on at a venue with pre show dining, table reservations must be made directly with the venue and is not guaranteed with a ticket. Shaft Of Wit Comedy is not responsible for any situations that may arise in relation to dining experiences, where possible we will try ensure the show starts with all ticket holders present, but please allow for possible service delays when booking your table
- 06On the request of the comedians there should be no filming or photography as its distracting. There are many reasons Phones should be switched off while the comedians are performing. The main reason however is due to people filming clips and posting them online. Most headline acts will squeeze in new jokes for their forthcoming tours and they don't want it shared on line. Some may be trying whole sections to perfect them. In extreme situations, an act may refuse to perform if this simple request is ignored. If you forget the above and a member of staff or security remind you, please be courteous and put your phone away. Its not worth spoiling a great night over something so simple. Photos of the event can be found on facebook or on the website, you are welcome to share them. Thank you for your understanding.
